Discover Mont Ventoux

Visible from a distance from the La Rivière campground—and even from as far as 100 kilometers away— Mont Ventoux rises to an elevation of 1,912 meters.

Whether on horseback, on foot, or by bike, it remains a favorite destination for hikers, athletes, and lovers of picturesque scenery. Hikers can easily explore the marked trails, while cyclists can attempt to climb it by bike, with a breathtaking view from the top as their ultimate reward.

This summer, get your fill of thrills as you race down the grassy slope of La Lisière. As the symbolic highest point of Provence and a magnificent site in the Vaucluse, this mountain of white limestone has always held a special fascination.

Hikes on Mont Ventoux

Hikes starting from your campground near Mont Ventoux invite you to make your way through lovely woodlands that are especially beautiful in the fall. The trails wind through a landscape of light-colored rock formations leading to the summit of the mountain. Along the way, you’ll come across “jas,” mountain sheepfolds built with dry-stone walls. Several hiking routes are available to reach the summit:

  • a climb from the hamlet of Sainte Colombe, 4 km from Bédoin;
  • a full ascent via the north face, starting from the Saint-Basile Chapel (in the town of Saint-Léger du Ventoux);
  • a walk through Grands Pins and along the Henry Fabre nature trail;
  • climb up the south face of Mont Ventoux, then traverse the north face;
  • An alternative route via the Sommet de la Plate and the Col de Comte…
